Setting Home/Away

Setting up home and away is critical to maximizing your otto experience. Otto can automatically reduce energy and protect your home when you walk out the door…

WARNING: It’s very important that you set home/away for every user in your home. Otto away will only engage if all users have left the house. A single users phone which isn’t properly configured can prevent otto from working correctly.

Setting it up…

Open your otto app, and navigate to “Settings > Home/Away” toggle “Geofence” to the “ON” position. An orange and green ring will appear around your house, this data will be used to determine if you’re home or away.

Note: For security reasons, otto doesn’t store your home address. It’s important to set this feature when your home, as the app will automatically grab your current location.

When you’re home…

You can configure what you would like otto to do when you return home. You can unlock a specific door, or have a light come on when you drive into the driveway.

When you’re away…

Here you can configure what you would like otto to do when you leave the house. Otto can turn off the lights, lock doors, reduce energy, and monitor activity.

Configuring your Phone

On your iPhone, navigate to “Settings > HomeOtto” ensure that your location tracking is set to “Always” and “Background app refresh” is toggled to the “ON” position.  (Check that all users have their phones configured properly)
